Less than a day after talks broke down between the Canadian Football League and the CFL Players Association for a new collective bargaining agreement, the CFL issued a memo to the media stating that even their own CBA proposal would lead to three of their nine teams losing money. "We want CFL players and fans to have the facts," read the statement, written in a fiction vs. fact format. "Fiction: The CFL offer would set the salary cap at $5 million and the players want it set at $5.8 million, so they could just saw off the difference a little and get a deal. Fact: The players unions ask is actually much, much bigger. You see, a lot of player compensation does not fall under the cap. Things like benefits, pensions, pre-season and post-season pay, plus any bonus to be paid for ratifying a new agreement. If you look at everything in our offer and everything in their offer, you find that the CFL is offering to increase player compensation by $850,000 per team in the first year of a deal, and the union is asking us to increase player compensation by $2.4 million per team in the first year of a deal. Their ask is not realistic. Under their proposal, six of nine teams would lose money." The league also reiterated that it made its best offer to the union, a response to what it calls fiction - that all the CFL has to do is add a little more to its offer to get a deal done. "Its the most we can pay," read the statement. "It was put forward knowing that under the CFLs best offer, three of nine teams would still lose money this year, even with the new TV deal in place." After almost two days of talks at a Toronto airport hotel, the league eventually did increase its financial offer and the union removed any revenue-sharing percentages from its own proposal, but talks between both sides broke down Thursday afternoon. The current CBA expired Thursday at Midnight et. "The players gave up revenue sharing last time because the CFL promised back then to put it back in this round of bargaining," added the league statement under the fiction heading. "Thats not true. That was never agreed to." Theres been no update on if or when the two sides will meet again at the bargaining table, but the league and the union said it wont stop players from reporting when training camps open Sunday. Uchenna Nwosu Chargers Jersey . - After sewage backups, toilet overflows and foul smells surfaced the past two years, nothing at the Oakland Coliseum surprises the home team anymore. Justin Jones Chargers Jersey . There will be no Down Under four-peat for Djokovic, as the eighth-seeded Swiss slugger Wawrinka outlasted the second seed 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, 3-6, 9-7 at Melbourne Parks Rod Laver Arena in yet another five-set thriller in their burgeoning rivalry. http://www.prochargersteamstore.com/Youth-Derwin-James-Elite-Jersey/ . Every. Single. Game. Thats 1,230 in total to cover the regular season. The man is Corey Sznajder, a soft-spoken 23-year-old Salisbury University grad who lives in Annapolis, Maryland and has been charting zone entries and zone exits throughout the NHL. I love big projects, he said. No kidding. At the 2013 Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, I met Eric Tulsky, who presented research on the value of controlled zone entries (short answer: about twice as valuable to enter with control of the puck rather than dumping it in) and Sznajder had charted a couple hundred games that were included in that study. Justin Jones Jersey . Jeff Carter had two goals and an assist as the Kings stretched their streak to seven wins in a row with a 4-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday. Derwin James Jersey . -- Chris Tillman paid no attention to the Baltimore bullpen as it started to stir in the ninth inning.7) Has there ever been a good outcome following a road rage on the highway? No, and the same answer applies to the race track, with sad proof of that more evident than ever.8) Back to the Tigers, sort of. Should we applaud Kate Upton for her honesty in realizing and admitting that Justin Verlanders fans blame her when he pitches poorly? His fantasy owners get so mad they wonder if she should remain in their fantasies of a different kind. So Im told. And no, we wont blame her when her boyfriend suffers an injury.9) Johnny Manziel vs. Brian Hoyer. If that is the extent of your interest in the Cleveland Browns, would you be willing to admit that you once followed the Denver Broncos because of Tim Tebow?10) Shall we make it official? The Montreal Alouettes change coaches more often than Chad Johnson changes names.11) Do you chuckle when you hear what might lie ahead for Rory McIlroy? 15 majors? 20 majors? Seems to me theres a guy stuck at 14 who was supposed to have reached one or both of those marks by now. 12) Who hurts more, the tacklers run over by Rob Gronkowski, or Gronkowski? Never mind his knees and his back, the New England Patriots tight end is trying to come back from four arm surgeries in the past two years. He says it has been miserable. No reason not to believe him.13) Lets lobby for a few changes to the rules of baseball, shall we? The fly ball that is lost in the sun and falls at the outfielders feet should not be a hit.14) From the rubber, the pitcher is not allowed to fake a throw to first base, and the deceptive "third to first" pickoff try has beeen outlawed.ddddddddddddWhy not stop the "turn and look the runner back to second" time-wasting move?15) Bear with me on this one. The closer enters the game in the bottom of the ninth with a one-run lead and blows the save by allowing the tying run. His team goes ahead in the top of the 10th and he pitches the bottom of the 10th and gets the win. That seems more like a second-chance save to me. Doesnt the win more rightly belong to the pitcher who stood to get it in the ninth?16) Meanwhile, back to golfs decison-making process, in this case, the Ryder Cup. USA team captain Tom Watson says hell basically let Tiger Woods decide if hes healthy enough and playing well enough to deserve a spot. What if team member Jordan Spieth told Watson to pick himself, based on the fact Watsons 36-hole score at the PGA was lower than Spieths, and Tigers?17) Is there ever a time when hockey isnt in the news? Thats my only hockey question, so that time is now, apparently.18) Shouldnt the first athlete who ever uttered the apologetic explanation "I never knowingly took a performance-enhancing, drug-banned stimulant" get residuals from all others who claim they were merely careless? Dallas Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick is the latest to read from the script.19) Would fans fight any harder for gold bars than they do for baseballs that land near their seats? 20) Do you feel sorry for Andrew Wiggins because he wont get the chance to play in Cleveland? Til now, have you ever felt sorry for an athlete because he didnt get the chance to play in Cleveland?
